Technical building instructions

SBi instructions (SBI-anvisninger) are technical building instructions that explains how to build according to applicable laws and regulations.

These SBI instructions are available in English. Please note that some of them are only partly translated:

  • SBI-ANVISNING 253: SMALL HOUSES - DESIGN AND FUNCTION
  • SBI-ANVISNING 252: WET ROOMS
  • SBI-ANVISNING 237: SOUND INSULATION BETWEEN DWELLINGS
  • SBI-ANVISNING 233: PROTECTION AGAINST RADON IN NEW BUILDINGS
  • SBI-ANVISNING 230: GUIDELINES ON BUILDING REGULATIONS 2010
  • SBI-ANVISNING 224: MOISTURE IN BUILDINGS
  • SBI-ANVISNING 115: STABILITY OF PLATE STRUCTURES

    • You can choose to search directly in the search field in the top menu. You'll search in all instructions, reports and information in the SBIs archives. All materials are open access, once you're logged in.
    • You can also search within a specific instruction. If you are looking for information on damp-proof membranes in roof constructions, it would be wise to open, for instance, "SBI instruction 273: Roofs" and search directly in the search field above the title. This gives direct access to the pages that are relevant for you.
    • Be aware that the SBI instructions has been published over many years, meaning that some of the examples you'll find can be constructed within the demands of earlier Building Guidelines (BR10, BR15 or older). There will be declarations of which building guidelines has been apllied in the text.
    • Tip in general: Make sure to use correct spelling.
